January 2nd is National Motivation & Inspiration Day in The United States, passed by Congress in December 2001 after the tragic events of September 11th.
Whilst it isn’t a National day here in the UK it is a great subject for a blog as so many of us are looking at what we want to achieve in the next 12 months.
Back in November I wrote a blog on what motivates us.
If you didn’t see it the first time or want to refresh then you can read it here:
What Inspires you?
Who Inspires you?
Can you be motivated if you are not inspired?
Can you achieve goals if you are not motivated or inspired?
If you have been looking at your goals for this year then you need to want to achieve them.
You have to be ready to make the changes in your behaviours, activities and habits that are needed to achieve the goal you have set.
Inspiration is your positive, intrinsic motivation. This is one of the key factors for successful change.
External/Extrinsic factors are not always in our control so whilst they may motivate us for a period of time we cannot guarantee that they will always be there to push us forward.
If we are inspired, then we are motivated by something inside us that drives us forward. It is directly linked to a mindset that wants us to succeed, it is the argument we have inside our head that tells us that the changes we need to make will be worth the outcome of achieving the goal we have set.
It is the mindset that feeds our willpower, our ability to resist short-term temptations in order to meet long-term goals.
See it
Believe it
Achieve it
When we are mentally stimulated, when we are motivated from within and we have a positive goal to aim for then we are on the right path to success.
